cafeterias

Dining spaces designed for comfort

School and university cafeterias require furniture that is durable, easy to clean, and mobile. This allows spaces to be quickly reconfigured while keeping order with minimal effort.

Acoustics are a major challenge in school dining areas. Excessive noise can make mealtimes uncomfortable and may even discourage students from eating. In Swedish schools, surveys show that one in three students skips lunch at least once a week due to cafeteria noise*. Improving acoustics not only promotes healthy eating habits but also creates a more positive and welcoming atmosphere.

calming acoustics

The school cafeteria is an important part of everyday life – a place to recharge, talk, and unwind. However, studies show that excessive noise during meals often leads students and teachers to shorten their breaks or skip them altogether.

Acoustic quality can be improved with ceiling panels, hanging screens, and wall panels that effectively reduce reverberation. In larger cafeterias, modular Fora_care sofas with divider panels are worth considering to create calmer, more comfortable spaces.

hygiene in school cafeterias

Hygiene is especially important in school cafeterias. Furniture should be made from durable, easy-to-clean materials that can withstand cleaning agents. That’s why wood, plastics and, for upholstered pieces, stain-resistant fabrics are most commonly used.

Additionally, our Orte Canteen tables, designed specifically for cafeterias, canteens and dining halls, feature a smart design that allows chairs to be hung under the tabletop, making it easier to maintain a clean and organized dining space.

biofilia supporting mealtime

Introducing elements of nature into school cafeterias — such as plants, natural materials, or muted colors — enhances the well-being of both students and staff. Biofilic interiors make the mealtime environment more comfortable and inviting.

Our Alberi wall panels not only provide acoustic comfort but alsobring a touch of nature, with designs reminiscent of trees and shrubs. A similar effect can be achieved with organically shaped furniture, such as Flos or wooden tabletops and Spin benches.

convenient to store and easy to transport

In canteens and school cafeterias stackable chairs are a very practical solution. That allows for them to be easily moved, transported on trolleys and conveniently stored when not in use. It is a functional solution that makes organizing the space and cleaning much easier and quicker, while maintaining comfort of use in heavily exploited canteens.
